Karnataka teacher Eligibility Test -(KAR-TET) will be  held in 12-07-2020 Sunday over the state  in following schedule: 

Paper-1: Morning Session

Brief Information:

School Education Department , Karnataka Government has announced Notification regarding Karnataka Teacher Eligibility test and invited Online Application From interested and eligible candidates . The Article going to inform complete details about the exam, eligibility criteria, online application and exam materials.

Karnataka teacher eligibility test is Mandatory for becoming a teacher in Government, Aided and Private schools of Karnataka



Paper I (For Teacher 1st to 5th standard)

PUC/ 10+2 with at least 50% of marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education or 4 year Bachelor of Elementary education (B.EI.Ed) or 2 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)



Paper II (For Teacher 5th to 8th standard)

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education or 4 year Bachelor of Elementary education (B.EI.Ed) or 2 year Diploma in Education or 4 year B.A.Ed /B.Sc.Ed



Candidates who are appearing final year examination but not  announced result yet now they also eligible for appear this exam with adhere to gain prescribed qualifying marks  in respective educational qualification. 

Note: Relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks for SC/ ST /Cat-I/ Differently Abled Candidates

Fee Structure

SC/ ST/ Cat I Rs. 350/- Rs. 500/-
Differently Abled Candidates are eligible to  exemption  from payment of examination fees


Bank Transactional Charge:



  • Internet Banking: above 500/- (Rs. 10 )
  • Debit Card: Up to Rs. 2000/- (0.75% of the transaction amount)
  • Credit Card: (1.20% of the Transaction amount

Mathematics (Not for Visually Impaired Candidates) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
Environmental Studies 30 MCQs 30 Marks
Social Studies (for visually impaired candidates  30 MCQs 30 Marks
Total 150 MCQs 150 MCQs

Paper II (class VI to VIII):



Child Development and Pedagogy 30 MCQ 30 marks
Language I (compulsory) 30 MCQ 30 Marks
Language II (Compulsory)  30 MCQ 30 Marks
Mathematics and Science (For Respective teacher only) 30 MCQ 30 Marks
Social (Social Teacher) 30 MCQ 30 Marks
Total 150 MCQ 150 Marks

How to Apply:

  • Candidates are advised to go official website: www.schooleducation.kar.nic.in 
  • Fill in the online application form with all details through Registration and Login
  • Upload scanned photo and Signature


  • Select any one payment mode for examination fee ( Internet banking/ Debit/ Credit card)


  • Teacher Education course shall be recognised by in the National Counsel for Teacher Education (NCTE)
  • The minimum qualification referred above, apply to the teachers of Languages, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science only

Candidates are advised to apply online ,fill the all details  carefully and submit the application before the last date
